AUDI WINS DTM TITLE
DTM has good reason to be the most popular international touring car race series. A record crowd of 165,000 spectators, including many celebrity guests who made themselves comfortable in Audi’s VIP lounge, flocked to Hockenheim (26 October) for the exciting finale of the 2008 DTM series.

Oliver Jarvis was once again poised for another exciting race driving the Best Buddies Audi A4 DTM.   In Qualifying, Oliver had once again proved to be one of the fastest in the 2007-spec cars, completing just half of a tenth of second slower than the quickest despite his rear tyres losing too much grip towards the end of his best lap.

“I think we would have been three tenths quicker in Qualifying had the tyres not lost the grip,” explained Oliver who consequently started the race from 10th position.Determined to wrap up the DTM season is style, Oliver made a great start off the grid overtaking Mike Rockenfeller before turn one to move up alongside Tom Kristensen.

“I found a good rhythm even though ‘Rocky’ was putting pressure on me,” says Oliver who managed to make up sufficient headway to get back out in front of Mike Rockenfeller after the first pitstop.

The next stop proved costly during which a wheel nut dropped to the ground in an action which delayed Oliver by some three seconds allowing Mike Rockenfeller the luxury of ninth position again.

“I gave everything once more but only finished 10th,” reflected Oliver. “The result is okay, but of course I always want to do better.   I’ve really enjoyed the season with DTM and it’s been a good year with the Phoenix team.”

Audi successfully defended its DTM title following Timo Scheider’s win at Hockenheim in the impressive 2008 Audi A4 DTM.  This has been a fabulous season for Audi AG following its triumph at 24 hours Le Mans and title wins in the Le Mans series in North America and Europe.
