At Last The Season Starts!

Finally the DTM season is underway with the first official tests having taken place at Dijon last week (14th,15th & 16th April). I can honestly say that is has been the longest break I’ve ever had without being in a race car!

So what have I been doing since the last race of the season?

I spent the winter back in the UK with family and friends and had really enjoyable Christmas before heading of to Ofterschwang for the Audi Training camp. This is where all the Audi drivers and team bosses get together before the start of the season. The week is spent not only training but is also used as a team bonding initiative ahead of the season.

After the training camp it seemed like forever before Dijon!!! Over the past few years, winter has always been one of the busiest times for me as I was taking part in A1 GP and also in numerous f3 tests. So this year was quite a shock. Anyway, it has finally arrived and I have got my hands on my 2008 race car for this year. The car feels a big improvement from last year’s car and I really hope that this DTM season we can be competitive in the one year old cars. So after a successful test where we were quickest in the dry on day one and ended up 5th on the final day in the wet after deciding to stop early, it was straight on to Dusseldorf for the DTM presentation.

Dusseldorf----WOW what a day! It was absolutely packed with people who came out to support all the DTM drivers and of course watch us do burnouts and doughnuts. There was such a great atmosphere and so many fans. It was really incredible. It was also the first time I got to see the finalised colour scheme of my Race Car.
