DTM is nearly here!

So the first race is now fast approaching and I can’t wait! Since the DTM presentation I have been really busy. We had a second test at Hockenheim where again I was consistently one of the quickest drivers.

That said, it is always extremely difficult to tell anything from just the lap times, as you never know the weight or programme the other cars are running. Therefore it’s important to focus on your own job and to learn as much as possible about the car ahead of the first race.

Straight after Hockenheim I flew back to the UK to work for SKY TV at the Brands Hatch A1 race. It’s always nice to return to A1GP as I still have many friends and drivers who work in A1. It was great to catch up with them and of course the GBR team with which I have shared some fantastic results. There’s always such a brilliant atmosphere at A1GP events.  And Brands was no exception!  Whilst it continues to face difficulties away from the track I really do hope A1 manages to continue into season 5. Working for SKY is always interesting and it’s something that I really enjoy. Working in the studio is a completely different experience to being behind the camera at a race track and being interviewed. There is so much going on in the studio and you are always working to time restraints. It’s quite a high pressure situation.

Straight after the A1 race I had to rush to the airport to catch a flight back to Munich as I am currently spending a week in Ingolstadt (Germany) having German lessons. I decided last year that I wanted to learn German and although I have already struggled with languages I intend to make a big effort this year!  Saying that, German is a very complex language so it will be a while before I am comfortable to speak it in public! So after this week of German lessons I will be spending a few days in Switzerland training and relaxing ahead of the first race at Hockenheim  16-17 May.
