JARVIS HOPES DASHED AT NÜRBURGRING |
|
While Audi celebrated a 1-2-3-4 victory at Nürburgring (16 August) and in doing so re-captured the lead in the DTM, luck eluded Oliver Jarvis who was forced to retire in the early stages of the race.
Having once more proved in Qualifying to be the quickest driver in a year old car, securing fifth place on the grid for Audi Sport Team Phoenix, Oliver was pleased with his start position for his team’s ‘home race’.
Making a good start, Oliver was confident of collecting some championship points but disaster struck when he, and his team-mate Alex Prémat, collided on just lap seven.
“Unfortunately, the race ended when we collided. On my first lap, my car sustained some damage and this included my side mirror. Alex (Prémat) tried to overtake me on the inside and I just couldn’t see him. It was a very disappointing day for the team,” explained Oliver.
Ernst Moser (Team Director Audi Sport Team Phoenix) said: “This was a pretty painful day for us especially on our home round. We could have scored a good amount of points for the team and the drivers’ standings – too bad.”
The next round takes place at Brands Hatch on 6 September.
