Audi’s Oliver Jarvis scooped his first DTM Championship points of the season at Germany’s Norisring on Sunday (4 July) after a strong qualifying and race day performance in which he finished 4th.
Starting from sixth on the grid, Jarvis was braced for a good start at what has been tagged as ‘Audi’s Home Round’ at the Norisring street circuit. Some 132,000 spectators viewed the action.
“I had a pretty good start but had to evade Martin Tomczyk who stalled in front of me,” said the 26 year old Briton, who quickly settled into the race and ran comfortably behind Mattias Ekstrom. “I had a little pressure from Gary Paffett but was able to keep him at bay.”
Ralph Schumacher’s jump start allowed Jarvis to gain a position when the German Mercedes driver was called into take his penalty. As the race progressed, Jarvis consistently produced good lap times and two excellent pitstops allowed him to move up another place.
“I did lose a bit of time in the middle sector behind Paul Di Resta which cost me the chance to over take Spengler. On the whole, fourth place is a good result.”
This was echoed by Head of Audi Motorsport, Dr Wolfgang Ullrich, who described Oliver as ‘driving a great race’. “It was a very good performance by the entire Audi squad,” said Dr Ullrich.
