| Another Podium Finish for A1 Team Great Britain |
|
Just two weeks after Cambridgeshire’s rookie driver Oliver Jarvis had steered the A1 Team Great Britain car to a podium finish in Beijing, there were more celebrations for A1 Team Great Britain in Malaysia. The team this time was celebrating Robbie Kerr’s podium finish in the Feature Race of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport at the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia. Kerr returned to the team having watched rookie racer, Oliver Jarvis, take Britain’s first podium of the season at the previous A1GP round in China. Kerr celebrated A1 Team Great Britain’s second straight Feature race podium as he finished second behind Germany’s Nico Hulkenberg in Round 4 of the series. More significantly, the team’s points scoring consistency and recent podium flurry has elevated Great Britain to a clear second overall in the A1GP Nations Standings, trailing Germany by just six points after four rounds. Oliver Jarvis had played an important role in Friday’s rookie session which had been productive for the team’s race preparations having posted a respectable fifth fastest time at the stunning 3.44mile Grand Prix venue. The 22 year-old continued to impress onlookers with his potential in the British entry. “I am very pleased that the team had another successful weekend in Sepang. This was my first trip to Malaysia and the Sepang International Circuit. I have to say it is an amazing track with superb facilities. I really enjoyed my running on Friday and hopefully I’ll be back here racing in the future. I’ve coped well with the conditions – once you’re in the car you don’t really notice the humidity as you’re concentrating on the task at hand. It hits you when you get out though! We certainly have a solid base car and it was great that Robbie could build on this for the rest of the weekend.” Round 5 of the 2006-07 A1GP World Cup of Motorsport takes place in two weeks time, Friday 8th – Sunday 10th December, at the Sentul International Circuit, Indonesia – www.a1gp.com A1GP Nations Standings after Round 4/12: 1st Germany (37), 2nd Great Britain (31), 3rd Malaysia (24) |
