Jarvis Second at Suzuka
Oliver Jarvis continued to notch up more valuable Championship points at the weekend for TOM’S Toyota in the All Japan F3 Series at Suzuka with an impressive second and fourth place finish.

Qualifying for Round 9 of the Championship was made all the more challenging with drying track conditions after the morning’s rain.  Jarvis, then just one point behind Championship leader, Roberto Streit, found himself caught up in traffic during Qualifying leaving him with no choice but to pull out all the stops in his penultimate lap.  But a spin in the tricky conditions proved costly for the 23 year old from Cambridgeshire and he had to be content with starting the first race (Round 9) from 9th on the grid in the knowledge that Streit was starting from pole.motegi_049

The second qualifying session for Round 10 went better, despite the red flag stopping the action for a while, with Jarvis posting the third fastest time on a dry track.   This time, Kodai Tsukakoshi was the quickest, followed by Streit and then Jarvis. As Round 9 dawned, Jarvis finding himself in unfamiliar territory back in 9th spot on the grid, made a superb start and quickly moved his way up the field early on in the race, and eventually overtook Marko Asmer to finish 4th in the first race of the day which was won by Streit driving the INGING car.

Round 10 saw Jarvis starting from the second row of the grid behind Tsukakoshi and Streit.  Tsukakoshi made a good start but Streit was off the pace.  Jarvis overtook Streit on the first corner of lap 2 and challenged for the lead but it was to be Tsukakoshi’s day with a race win.  Challenging to the end, Oliver Jarvis, the 2005 McLaren Autosport BRDC Award winner, had to be satisfied with second place on the podium.  TOM’S team-mate Kazuya Oshima finished third with Streit crossing the line back in fourth.Oliver Jarvis remains second in the driver standings of the All Japan F3 Championship.

Furthermore, supporters of Oliver Jarvis can see him back in the UK in action at Donington this weekend (14-15 July) driving the guest car in the Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain.
