Rounds 14 and 15 of the All Japan F3 Championship at Fuji International Speedway brought with them double podium finishes for Oliver Jarvis driving for TOM’s Toyota who crossed the line in third position in both races.

Despite disappointment in the Qualifying rounds in which Jarvis described the car as having “massive understeer and unable to get a time out of the tyres when they were at their best”, he did make up ground during both races to claim more Championship points.

Making an awesome start in the first race from seventh on the grid, he passed three cars around the outside of the first corner.  Jarvis then went on to make a move around the outside of Streit but the Brazilian managed to brake just late enough to keep Jarvis at bay. 

“I constantly put Streit under pressure for the next two laps and on my third attempt I got an especially good run out of the last corner, managing to tow right up behind him and dive to the inside to take third going into the first corner,” explains Jarvis. 

Good work it was, but unfortunately there wasn’t enough time to make the ground to second place but Jarvis did manage to get within 1 sec by the last time although never close enough to attempt a pass.

The first race finished with a win for Kazuya Oshima (TOM’s Toyota) taking the winning honours, Kodai Tsukakoshi in second and Oliver Jarvis in third.

Starting from fourth on the grid in the second race, Jarvis again made an excellent start and moved up to third position.  He then set about pressurising for second but it soon became clear that without any mistakes from the drivers in front, which included TOM’s team mate Oshima who ultimately won the race, it was going to be very difficult to pass.  Once more Tsukakoshi finished second with Jarvis having to be content with third position.

Rounds 16,17,18 take place at Highland on 6 and 7 October.
