Tyre Choice Causes Problems at Zolder

Following a victorious opening round in Nogaro, the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT suffered a difficult weekend at their home circuit in Zolder (20-22 April, Belgium).  A wrong choice of tyres left the Audis R8 LMS ultra of Oliver Jarvis/ Frank Stippler and Laurens Vanthoor/Stephane Ortelli out of the points in the Qualifying Race, while in the main event, in their effort to climb up positions, the two cars made contact, finishing 6th and 10th.

A Word from Oliver Jarvis

You got off to a good start in the FIA GT World Championship last week, coming second twice.  How happy were you with your performance?

One, Two Victory for Belgian Audi Club Team WRT, Nogaro

Belgian Audi Club Team WRT had cause for double celebrations after winning the Championship Race at Nogaro (France – 6 to 9 April 2012) thanks to Stephane Otelli and Laurens Vanthoor, with the second WRT car, No.33 of Oliver Jarvis and Frank Stippler finishing second.

The No.33 Audi of Stippler had held the lead heading into the midway pit stop, but after an internal duel between the WRT team-mates, it was Vanthoor who got the better of Jarvis for the top step of the podium at the finish.

Jarvis to compete at Le Mans 24 Heures with Audi in 2012

Oliver Jarvis is to join Audi’s factory team at the legendary Le Mans 24 Heures for the first time in 2012 (16 and 17 June).  He made his debut at the Sarthe in 2010 at the wheel of a privately entered Audi R10 TDI and won the ‘Rookie of Le Mans’ prize.

Victory in Valencia for Audi

Audi occupied six of the eight top grid positions for the start of the DTM race at Valencia (2 October) and finished in all top six positions. The challenging track temperatures proved a real test of tyres.

Oliver Jarvis was disappointed to start from the fourth row of the grid due to an error in Q3, because the car had felt good. Making a good start off the line, Oliver quickly gaining two places at the start of the race but pushed wide, he dropped down to 9th and had to contend with traffic for much of the race.
